Make in India gets a boost – Airports Authority of India signs agreement with Lao PDR for SkyRev360

Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Lao Air Traffic Management signed a historic agreement on implementation of SkyRev360 – an e-billing solution jointly developed with IATA (International Air Transport Association). The ceremony was held in Vientiane, the capital of Lao PDR on 19th January 2018. AAI won the bid worth USD 8.68 million in July 2017 in what will be the first project for this product.

The platform was launched in February 2017 and is part of “Make in India” initiative of AAI. It provides a fully automated and comprehensive data gathering invoicing and collection service.

The one of its kind system – as marketed by AAI, helps airport operators avoid revenue leakages, reducing redundancies, disputes and easily integrated with external systems. The fast turnaround helps reduce debt collection period. While the system is compatible with multiple radar systems in the world, hosting abilities on cloud servers helps it deploy faster.

The airspace of LAO PDR is handled by the government run Lao Air Traffic Management company and while the country might not have many operational airports, the overflying flights connecting the rapidly connecting routes between China & Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore overfly Lao.

Most countries have manual process of data collection and billing the airlines at the end of the specified period which at times lead to disputes between the ANSP (air navigation service providers) and airlines. SkyRev360 makes use of the IATA settlement Systems (ISS) which helps settle bills in 99 currencies and settles over 300 billion USD per year and follows IATA IS-XML standard for quick integration.

To address the challenges and pain points faced by Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) in invoicing the flights passing through the airspace, which is a complex, time consuming and error-prone task, involving collection and reconciliation of flight data from radar flight plans and Aeronautical Information Circulars (AICs), AAI and IATA came out with SkyRev360. ANSP comprises of Air Traffic Management (ATM), Communications, Navigation and surveillance systems (CNS), Meteorological service for Air Navigation (MET) and Aeronautical Information Services (AIS).

The product is broadly divided into Data gathering & processing, Invoicing and collection modules and has a built in interface that retrieves real-time flight data from systems like ATC, Radar, ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast) and aeronautical messages.
